I was born in Peterborough in September 1961 and always lived in the area, to which I'm in Ramsey St Mary’s.
In which from a very young age I have been a sports nut and still playing and watching it.
Sport has been very good to me and has got me all over the country up to Glasgow to down to Poole and now into Poland to watch or play sport.
It’s great to get out on the road and play against teams and meet new people, plus you never get bored as always there is something on in the diary.
I have been following the speedway now for over 37 years and its gets better, played hockey for 34 years, in which I'm a player coach, in which I have learn’t a lot on fitness and psychology which helps greatly.
If turning the clock back, that is one thing I would change, fitness, when I was a 13 stone and carrying to much as a kid, now 30 odd years down the line I'm 11 ½ stone and fitter. The Gym does help in that case.
Luckily for me I have an understanding partner or sports widow…….
At the end of last season for hockey, I made a big decision to leave St Ives after 33 yrs, to play in the Vets league (40+) for my new club Shefford and Sandy, its been a breath of fresh air to me, to play against players of my own age again and of all standards, like ex GB internationals.
In the past I loved my pool and when in the Peterborough league my village pub got to the Thursday night Division One, so we were not too bad.
Like the odd social night out ten pin bowling, it’s a great way to have a great social evening and play sport at the same time.
My adrenaline though comes from Motor racing, I love rallying big time, Tin Tops or touring cars as know, I love driving, two years ago I passed ROSPA for advance drivers. |
